El pez cebra presta sus ojos-Zebra fish to repair our eyes

El caso del orangután-Orang-utans show how to get a reward

To get a reward
Did you know that orang-utans make a class of charade representation to obtain from humans a tasty reward?
When they wish that a tastyl reward is given to them, they use a strategy that assimilates a charade game. They repeat signals that work and modify those that no, revealing surprising and sophisticated communicative abilities, according to a study of Richard Byrne of the University of St Andrew in Scotland, published in Current Biology.
The nonverbal communication of this type has been seen in chimpanzees and there is much anecdotal evidence that orang-utans receive rewards for that reason. “Any zookepper tell you theycan communicate with orang-outans and that these communicate with them”, Byrne said.

Para repensar este sitio-In order to rethink this space

Hola: he estado ausente por unos días.

A pause
Hello: I have been absent by days. I try to rethink this space, so that it attracts more people interested in science topics. I believe that publishing two or three notes per day, with the passage of the weeks, allows to form an idea of what is worked today in scientific subjects. But perhaps is necessary more. Analysis? I will return the next Monday 13 of August.
If you have an idea, please send your comment to me.

Mirando nuestra muerte-A Sun like star shows our destiny

Ninguna a primera vista.

Our fate

What relation could have a distant red giant star in which a planet was found that orbits it every 360 days, and our Solar System?

None at first sight. But it is not thus.

Astronomers led by Alex Wolszczam, who in 1992 discovered first planets by outside our Solar System, found in a star twice mroe massive and 10 times greater than the Sun, a planet. They are towards the constellation Perseus.

Aside from the importance of discovering planets in distant stars, this particular case is interesting: it will help to understand what it will happen to us in two or three billion years.

The Sun, said the astronomers, will become uninhabitable in about two billion years, because the Sun will warm up more yu more in its way to become a red giant within about 5 billion years, which will affect the orbits of planets and the dynamics of the planetary system, bringing about collisions. The Earth and other planets will disappear within that great Sun.

Your guests
Did you know that a typical human mouth contains at least 700 species of microbes, a handful of them implied in promoting dental cavities, gingivitis and bad breath? The action of the majority of them is not known.
By such reason, a group of investigators of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute created a device that can make these hidden members of the human body more accessible for laboratory studies.
The vast majority of the microbes does not grow in laboratory because they are extremely bound to his own and unique ecosystem.

Los circuncidados no sienten menos-Circumcised and umcircumcised men

Circumcision
It has been said much of sexual sensation in circumcised men. But a study of the Department of Psychology of McGill University in Montreal, consisting of a genital sensory testing during sexual states of arousal and no-arousal, did not reveal differences in sensitivity to touch or pain. The investigators said that the functional and mechanical scar tissue and changes related to the sexual activity could have effects in genital sensitivity and would have to be considered in future investigations.
