Los investigadores han creído que se debe a que no se sienten temerosos frente a la película o que se trata de disfrutar un sentimiento eufórico de liberación al final.
Un nuevo estudio de Eduardo Andrade, de la Universidad de California y Joel Cohen de la Universidad de Florida, en el Journal of Consumer Research, sugiere que ninguna de esas teorías es correctas. Los investigadores argumentan que los asistentes a las películas de horror están felices de ser infelices, un acercamiento que indica que la gente experiencia emociones positivas y negativas a la vez, no solo un alivio cuando la amenaza es eliminada.
