Investigadores de la Universidad de Oregon que estudiaban mosquitos produjeron el primer mapa cromosomal que muestra regiones de los cromosomas que se activan –y están aparentemente en evolución- en los animales como respuesta al cambio climático.
El mapa les permitirá a los científicos estrechar el foco para identificar genes específicos que control el desarrollo estacional en animales. Tal información ayudará a rpedecir cuáles animales podrán sobrevivir al cambio climático e identificar cuáles enfermedades portadas por vectores pueden moverse hacia el norte, permitiendo la producción de vacunas apropiadas, según William Bradshaw y Christina Holzapfel, del Departamento de Biología en esa universidad.
