Los biocombustibles reducen contaminación-Biofuels are less pollutants

Ahora que el mundo busca nuevas fuentes de combustibles biológicos que remplacen la dependencia de la gasolina y el diesel, un estudio de varias agencias oficiales de Estados Unidos mostró las reducciones en contaminantes que pueden lograrse con el empleo de estas nuevas fuentes.
Los resultados mostraron que al compararlos con la gasolina y el diesel, el etano y el biodiesel a partir de maíz y soya reducen las emisiones de gases de invernadero en alrededor del 40 por ciento, del 85 por ciento cuando se usa el pasto reed canarygrass y del 115 por ciento para el pasto switchgrass y el álamo híbrido.
Estos dos además presentan una reducción dos veces mayor que los combustibles fíosiles si son empleados para la generación de energía vía la gasificación de biomasa.
El estudio revela que mientras los agricultores se han volcado a sembrar maíz como fuente de ingresos, deben considerarse otros productos que ofrecen alternativas llamativas.

Now that the world looks for new biological fuel sources that replace the dependancy of the gasoline and the diesel engine, a study of several official agencies of the United States and two universities showed the reductions in polluting agents that can be obtained with the use of these new sources.The results showed that when comparing gasoline and diesel, ethanol and the biodiesel from corn and soybean reduce the gas discharges of greenhouse in around 40 percent, and 85 percent when reed canarygrass is used and of the 115 percent for switchgrass and the hybrid poplar.These two, besides, show a reduction twice than fossil fuels if they are used for the generation of energy via the biomass gasification.The study reveals that while agriculturists have turned to seed corn like a source of income, other products that offer alternatives must be considered.
