¿Le sucede? Los hombres pueden estar inclinados a mirar automáticamente las intenciones de las mujeres como sexuales, antes que amistosas, según un nuevo estudio publicado en Psychology of Women Quartely.
El método único empleado en el estudio allega evidencia de que estas percepciones ocurren sobre una base automática, posiblemente sin la intención ni control de la persona.
Kristen Lindgren, autora líder del estudio y estudiante de post doctorado en Psiquiatría y Ciencias del Comportamiento en la Universidad de Washington y sus colegas Yuichi Shoda y William George, profesores, emplearon el test de asociación implícita que examina las asociaciones cognitivas entre conceptos, para estudiar las actitudes de 250 estudiantes sobre el sexo opuesto.
“Los hombres pueden estar predispuestos en los niveles automático y controlado para ver a las mujeres como sexuales”, dice Lindgren, “pero esto no significa que las percepciones sean inmodificables o sin respuesta a situaciones específicas”.
Los hallazgos muestran que el punto de vista cambia cuando el test se enfocó a las actitudes concernientes a una mujer individual y no a las mujeres como un todo.
Puede ser, según la investigadora, que inicialmente las percepciones de los hombres son más sexuales y que llegan a serlo menos cuando conocen una mujer particular.

Men can be automatically inclined to view women’s intentions as sexual, rather than friendly, according to a new study published in Psychology of Women Quartely.
The unique method used in the study collects evidence of which these perceptions happen on an automatic base, possibly without the intention nor control of the person.
Kristen Lindgren, author leader of the study and student of post doctorate in Psychiatry and Sciences of the Behavior in the University of Washington and its colleagues Yuichi Shoda and William George, professors, used the implicit association test that examines the cognitive associations between concepts, to study the attitudes of 250 students about the opposite sex.
“Men can be predisposed on both automatic and controlled levels to view women as sexual”, says Lindgren, “but this does not mean that the perceptions are unchangeable or unresponsive to specific situations”.
The findings show that the point of view changes when the test focused on attitudes concerning an individual woman and not to the women as a whole.
It can be, according to the investigator, that initially men’s perceptions are more sexual and than they become less sexual as they learn about a particular woman.
