Cerdos con el mal Alzheimer-Pigs get Alzheimer's disease

Para curar el mal de Alzheimer ahora los científicos miran... al cerdo.
Los primeros cerdos con los genes humanos responsables de esa enfermedad nacerán en agosto en Dinamarca. Se trata de un hito en los esfuerzos por encontrar una cura para ese mal.
Científicos de las universidades de Copenhague y Aarhus están empleando los umbrales de la tecnología: cerdos clonados que han sido alterados genéticamente de modo que puedan servir como un modelo animal para curar el Alzheimer. Se cree que al menos 24 millones de personas en todo el planeta sufren el mal.
La profesora Ingrid Brück considera que la habilidad para producir cerdos transgénicos para tratar enfermedades humanas es un pre requisito para el progreso futuro en esta área.

Cloned pigs

In order to cure the Alzheimer's disease now the scientists look at… the pig.

The first pigs with the human genes responsible for that disease will be born in August in Denmark. This is a landmark in the efforts to find one cures for that disease.

Scientists of the universities of Copenhagen and Aarhus are using the thresholds of the technology: cloned pigs that have been altered genetically so that they can serve as a model animal to cure the Alzheimer. It is thought that at least 24 million people in all the planet have the disease.

Professor Ingrid Brück considers that the ability to produce transgenic pigs to treat human diseases is pre requisite for the future progress in this area.
